Santa Cruz

This weekend was a good weekend for us in Northern Cali. Even though the high was only in the 60's, that didn't stop us from heading to the beach. We slept in Saturday morning, got up, threw on our swimsuits, loaded the dog and surf board in the car then headed down to Santa Cruz. It's about an hour drive from our house...totally worth it. It was so fun. I know I always say things are fun, but this time I really mean it.

It was fun.

We passed the boardwalk and pier and headed straight to the beach.

Owen surfed.

I sat on the beach and read my new book...

...and hung out with the pup.

Santa Cruz had so many fun things to offer:
A boardwalk full of fun rides
A boardwalk full of yummy food

A gigantic indoor mini-golf/arcade casino

Lots of surf shops

A pier with seafood stands and a chocolate shop
Beaches for laying out and surfing

We ended our beach day with food on the pier. And of course I got clam chowder. We sat in the cafe, ate our food and watched the surfers out the window.

Then I discovered a chocolate shop with the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries (my favorite) I have ever had. They were epic. I can't wait to go back for more.

Owen and I have loved discovering all of the fun things to do around the Bay Area. We decided that Santa Cruz is our favorite place so far. I'm pretty sure you'll find us there every Saturday.

  1. We love Santa Cruz! I bet Owen surfed right where David use to surf when he lived there. (isn't it weird that our husbands were friends long before we even knew we'd marry them? Owen has known David longer than I have! :).

I meant to comment on your sealing post a while ago. I thought I did, but guess I didn't. I just have to tell you that I am so happy for you guys! I also have to thank you for such a great reminder to all of us that we need to be thankful for the sealing power. Your words really touched me, so thank you!
