tUrKeY dAy!

Thanksgiving weekend came and went so fast! Owen and I were able to drive down to AZ to spend the holiday with our families. My family lives there and most of Owen's were in town for his aunt's wedding. It was such a nice break from the cold (the high was in the 80's the entire time!) and a great time to be with family. I was so thankful that this is was my 2nd Thanksgiving with the hubby.

This is Thanksgiving 2008 in Texas. We had been dating for a few months and I went with him to TX for the holiday to meet the entire fam. Such a fun trip!

We spent Thanksgiving day 2009 with my family. I realized I didn't get ANY pictures of my fam and our activities. Sad. But we did a lot of cooking, hanging out with relatives, playing with our puppies. We also had a nice little garage sale and put up Christmas decorations. I have missed my family a ton since moving to Utah, so it was fun to spend time with them. Below are some other activities we did during the holiday weekend:

1st Annual Allen Turkey Trot Owen's mom set up a nice little course for us to run the turkey trot. I enjoyed the few laps around the field rather than the usual 6 mile run!

McKenzie taking a break at the water table

Owen played football with his friends Thanksgiving morning while I helped my mom with cooking

Shauna (Owen's aunt) got married. Such a beautiful bride!

We went to dinner and a movie with my best friend Emily and her husband Levi. I loved this double date! It was the first time we've ever gone out together with the hubbys. Hopefully we'll live in AZ soon so we can play more

Friends! We were able to hang out with a bunch of our friends over at Rob's.

AND...I also got my driver's license changed while I was in AZ. I'm officially Alyssa ALLEN!

This was such a great vacation. I'm already counting down the days when we get to go back for Christmas. I love the holidays and this time of year!

My Love

Infatuation (v): is the state of being completely carried away by unreasoned passion or love; addictive love. Usually, one is inspired with an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone.

This describes how I feel towards my hubby. Except not short-lived. It has been like this since the first day I met him and has not changed since. These are a few reasons why:

I was really sick one day this week. Owen kept asking me if he could make me soup or go get me Sprite, but nothing sounded good. He had to go to school that night and instead of coming home with soup or Sprite, he came back home with THIS...a big box of FUDGE...and it was sooo good. He knew exactly what would make me feel better :) And I ate about half of it that night. What a good hubby.

I found this on my mirror one morning. I don't think I'll ever clean it off. It makes me so happy to look at it every day as I'm getting ready.

It was our 3 month wedding anniversary on Friday, the 20th, and I was joking with him about what we were going to do to celebrate. So I came home from work that day and found this on the table. It was so simple, but perfect. The littlest things make me so happy.

I just want my hubby to know how much I love and appreciate him. I really don't think I tell him enough. He takes such good care of me and does everything he can to make us happy. He is my BEST FRIEND and I would not know how to live without him. I love that he's the ONLY person I ever want to be with and the ONE person who makes me feel whole. I love that he's the FIRST person I think of when I wake up in the morning and when I go to bed at night. I love that he is my HUSBAND and we get to be together forever, no matter what. I LOVE how much he LOVES me. And I'm infatuated.

Hi, my name is Alyssa, and I'm short

I know this is going to be the most random post...but I'm sitting at home sick and I have nothing better to do than go through old pictures. As I go through more and more, I'm starting to realize a pattern in the pics...I'm significantly SHORTER than most people in the picture with me. I mean I know I've always been short...I've been 5'1'' and 1/4 since 8th grade and haven't grown a centimeter since...but looking at myself standing next to other people I look AbNoRmAlLy small, like if I didn't know myself I would think I'm a midget. I always thought people were abnormally tall, but I'm starting to realize IT'S ME.
For example:

My besties at my wedding. Yes they're wearing heals and I'm wearing flip flops...but still?

Me with my twin brothers who are 5 years younger than me and TOWER over me
(see the one behind me)

At our ward Halloween party

All of Emily's best friends at her wedding...I'm the short one on the end...

I told Owen about my concern...but his response was I'm perfect the way I am. If I was any taller then he probably would not have liked me, ha. So I guess it's okay that I'm short. I think I'm finally going to accept it. Plus, after looking at this picture, we are perfect together...in every single way.

Party time!

SUCH a fun night. Honeymoon time...

We went on our HoNeYmOoN in Rocky Point, Mexico...

Loved the beach...

Loved the shopping...

Loved the tacos and pina coladas at the pool bar...

Love each other

We moved into our cUtE little house in Provo
(Owen's grandma is letting us stay there while Owen finishes school. Rent=mowing the lawn. We love it)

We went to dinner with some of Owen's friends for HIS birthday in Aug.

BoldWe went to the Alpine Slides in Park City for MY birthday in Sept.

We like to GoLf

We went to the Blink 182 concert. Our combined birthday presents to ourselves

My parents came to visit us for the weekend. They stayed at our house and we did some fun activities while they were here. (I'm the first kid to live away from home so I think they had fun venturing out of AZ life) ((for some reason I look 4 months pregnant in this pic, I promise I'm not))

We went to General Conference

In front of the conference center. I was happy my parents could come for their very first general conference

We have been to a variety of BYU football games...

BYU vs. FSU
(My very first BYU game. I go because I love the churros. True story)

BYU vs. Utah State
My parents came to visit for this game

BYU vs. TCU
Emily and Joe came from TX to go to the game

Owen finished his first Sprint Triathlon that was put on by BYU. He did so good and hopes to do another one again soon

We saw the leaves change to fAlL cOlOrS. Here is a tree in our backyard (pretty to look at, but not fun to clean up after)

We carved pumpkins with some friends. It doesn't feel like Halloween to me until we carve pumpkins. Owen is the dolphin and mine is the witch (we still don't know why he chose a dolphin)

We went to a VERY legit hAuNtEd HoUsE in Salt Lake. It's actually on the Travel Channel as one of the best in the US. (Another mandatory Halloween activity)

We celebrated Halloween with some fun friends
