winter wonderland

Yesterday morning, I woke up to this on our house:

It is officially WINTER here in Utah. I'm not gonna lie, I have been dreading the snow coming to Utah this winter. Being from Arizona, I like the 55 degree winters and only frost on the grass in the mornings. I never understood how people could willingly live in the snow. Walking in it, shoveling it, DRIVING in it, bundling up for it just never sounded to fun to me. So when it finally came yesterday morning, I had mixed emotions.

PROS:
It was actually very pretty. I really like looking out my window and seeing the snow on the ground. It definitly made it feel more like Christmas.
This means snowboarding season is officially here. Now we have five long months to use our season passes at Sundance this year. And it's only a 20 minute drive from our house. Yipee!
No more yard work for awhile! I'll take shoveling snow to make a little path over mowing lawns and raking leaves any day.

CONS:
I am the worst driver in the snow. No matter how slow I go, I always end up slipping all over the road. Super scary. I usually don't leave my house unless I absolutly have to.
I am lacking in winter clothes. I always think I'm bundled up enough, but as soon as I go outside, I'm freezing. And my feet are wet. Maybe some shopping will help with this.
We both start work at 2AM. It is SO hard to get out of bed already at this hour. But it is even worse when it's cold and snowy outside. We just want to stay in our warm bed.

So far, it really hasn't bothered me. We'll see how I feel in a couple of months though.

This is the view of the park across the street from our house. We used to lay here on blankets when it was nice outside. No more of that for awhile.

Our lovely little snow covered house

Our lovely little Christmas Tree! I was so excited to finally get one. We just got a cheap little one from Wal-Mart, but it was perfect and I love it.

Luckily we were able to make it to see the Salt Lake Temple Lights last Friday night before all of the snow came. We did a late temple sesh so we saw about 5 min. of the lights until they turned off, but it was worth it.

Two weeks until we go back to AZ for Christmas and I can't wait! And only one more week of school for both of us. Good luck to the hubby this week while he takes his finals. He works so hard and I'm so proud of his school work. Christmas break is right around the corner!
